Aug. 28 = Two GREAT SHOWS under one roof! 34th Annual KC Toy and Doll Show and KC’s Antiques and Collectibles Show. Two separate shows, one low price - double the dealers, double the fun! Setup hours on Friday are Noon to 6:00 p.m. and an Early buying pass for both shows is just $5 from Noon to 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Show hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sept. 4, 5 & 6 = Jersey County Victorian Festival is an event that promotes "History in Motion" through Civil War reenactments, encampments, agricultural demonstrations, antiques and working crafts, taking a step back in time to view our history and to give visitors an opportunity to get closer to our past. The Jersey County Victorian Festival has been awarded the "Top 100 Event for 2008" by the American Bus Association. This national award is in recognition of this wonderful family event that has many segments for visitors to enjoy on Labor Day Weekend. Arts, crafts and working artisans will be demonstrating crafts of the period. It will be held on Labor Day Weekend and is located one mile North of Jerseyville, Il. on Route 67. Sept. 10, 11 & 12 = 23rd Annual Homestead Harvest Days in Highland, Il. Just 30 miles east of St. Louis, Mo. Hours: Friday 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sat. & Sun. 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $4 per person or a three day pass is $6 per person, available at the gate only. Sept. 10, 11 & 12 = 41st Annual Indianapolis, Indiana Hoosier Antique Show. The shows was started in 1969 and is the oldest continually running show in Indiana. Offering a huge assortment of exceptional pottery and porcelain, silver, jewelry, toys, dolls, Oriental rugs, vintage clothing, textiles, country things and furniture for your home or office, with special emphasis on all types of quality glassware and fine china. Sept. 17, 18 & 19 = Country Folk Art Festival at Kane Country Fairgrounds, Randall Rd. between Routes 64 & 38, one mile west of downtown, St. Charles, IL. The Country Folk Art Festival brings exacting high-quality reproductions of country and formal antique American furniture and accessories, contemporary folk art and unique crafts to the Chicagoland area. All shows and sales are open to the public. The nation's finest artists, many of whom have been featured in top magazines such as Country Living, Early American Life, Country Home, House Beautiful, Cottage Living, Oprah and This Old House, will be offering for sale their one of a kind art work. $8 admission good for all three days. Sept. 17, 18 & 19 = Meet Me In St. Louis Antiques Show & Sale at Queeny Park, 550 Weidman Rd., St. Louis, MO. (2 miles west of Hwy. 270, off Manchester Rd.) Sept. 18 = 20th Annual Fall Festival in De Soto, MO. To be held in Walther Park on Hwy. E in De Soto, MO. To start off the day there is a 5K Run at 8:00 a.m. From 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. there will be craft and food booths, live musical entertainment and fun for kids of all ages. To continue the fun we will hold the Joachim Creek Duck Race at 3:00 p.m. with over $500 in prizes to be awarded. Cast your vote for your favorite car at the Chamber of Commerce car show. Other events include volleyball tournament, hula hoop tournament, basketball tournament, three-legged race, washers tournament, hot dog eating contest and a dunking booth Then to close out this great day of fun, there is a Moonlight Bike Ride at 10:00 p.m. All applications for events can be found online at www.chamber.desotomo.com. Sept. 17, 18 & 19 = 62nd Annual Okawville, Illinois Fair and Wheat Festival in the Community Park. The three day event will start Friday evening with the Miss Okawville Fair Queen Judging and an open air dance in the park with music. Evening arm bands will be used on all three days (hours vary) and are $15. Single tickets may be purchased at $2 each with one ticket required for rides. Saturday events include washer tournament, kiddie tractor pull, exhibit hall opens, antique tractor pull, rides with single ride tickets at $2, one ticket per ride), outdoor stage entertainment. Sunday events include parade exhibit hall open Okawville High School band concert. Sept. 19 = Third Sunday Market. A Bloomington tradition since 1988, the indoor/outdoor sale features more than 450 top dealers, representing 17 states. Sept. 25 & 26 = 31st Annual Heritage Days on the Goshen Trail will be held on Saturday and Sunday, on the grounds of the Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey, IL. There will be a large primitive encampment with period music, dancers, town crier, fife and drum corps, bag piper, activities for children, and authentic foods and goods for sale. Oct 1 & 2 = Depression Era Glass & Pottery Show & Sale in Independence, MO. Sponsored by the Heart of America Glass Collectors, this show features Depression Glass, elegant glass, Cambridge, Fenton, Fostoria, Heisey, Imperial, Morgantown, Seneca, Tiffin, Fiesta, Franciscan, Hall, Metlox, and many more fantastic treasures. Oct. 2 & 3 = Knox County Scenic Drive, a celebration of Rural Heritage. Join us for the annual celebration of the pioneer and Native American cultures prevalent here in Knox County, Illinois. The Knox County Scenic Drive is a self-guided car tour, allowing you to navigate your way through the small towns of Knox County, displaying the best they have to offer. You will encounter old traditions, crafts and skills at each of the stops along the way. Two one-room schoolhouses , four building listed on the National Register of Historic Places, a railroad depot, an 1832 log cabin, museums and century old chapels will be open for visitors to explore. Each stop emphasizes a unique aspect of the rural heritage, but they are all bonded together by a fun, friendly atmosphere with plenty to see and do for the entire family. Oct 2 & 3 = Come Join Us On The Spoon River Drive. The Spoon River Valley Scenic Drive Associates invites you to come to Fulton County, Illinois and enjoy the natural wonders of the Spoon River Valley. The Spoon River has carved a wide scenic valley through Fulton County as it flows from London Mills to the south and east where it joins the Illinois River near the southeastern corner of the County. The Spoon River became nationally known from the work of Edgar Lee Masters, author of the noted SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY. Oct. 9 & 10 = 4th Annual Highland Illinois Antiques Show & Sale will be held in the Exposition Building at Lindendale Park, 2025 Park Hill Drive, Highland, Illinois. Hours are Sat. 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sun. 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $5 and includes one informal appraisal. The Highland Antiques Show & Sale is conveniently located in Highland, Illinois, 35 miles east of St. Louis and and about 85 miles south of Springfield, Illinois. Oct. 16 & 17 = Missouri’s French-German & Osage pasts come alive at Deutsch Country Days. Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. More than eighty folkways and skills of our German forefathers--just as they toiled more than 150 years ago--will be presented at the living history weekend to observe, discover and learn how our ancestors lived and progressed. The Pre-1800 area features a gunsmith, French trappers, blacksmith, bow making and archery demonstrations. As you stroll along the picturesque Osage Trail, lined with colorful autumn foliage you discover several Native American lodges, Teepee’s, longhouses and a Wicki-up, all authentically hand-reproduced by the volunteers. Each locale have Native American’s demonstrating drum and flute making, flint napping, tanning. All these educational and historic exhibits are located on the Luxenhaus Farm, three miles northeast of Marthasville, MO on Highway O and an hour west of St. Louis in Warren County.
